Volunteers renovating a community building together

2026–2027 Capital & Community Impact Campaign

Hope Changes Everything

Restoring Spaces. Strengthening Services. Transforming Lives.

A proposed $1,000,000 effort to create a safer, modernized, accessible, and sustainable community resource hub for Petersburg — so the Hope Center can serve more neighbors, more completely, for decades to come.

Campaign goal

Proposed campaign goal

$1,000,000

This is a proposed goal. Allocations are planning estimates pending facility assessments, project bids, and board approval.

Why this campaign, why now

For more than five decades, Downtown Churches United has met essential needs in Petersburg with dignity — meals, groceries, clothing, and a helping hand. The building that makes that work possible needs the same care it gives to others.

Hope Changes Everything is our plan to restore and modernize the Hope Center so it can welcome every neighbor safely, serve more families each week, and stand strong for the next fifty years. Every gift goes directly into the spaces and services our neighbors rely on.

Where the funds will go

The draft allocation plan below reflects our current planning estimates. Final amounts will be confirmed through facility assessments, project bids, and board approval before funds are designated.

$350,000

Building renovations

Restoring and modernizing the Hope Center so it is safe, accessible, and welcoming for every neighbor.

$175,000

Kitchen safety & modernization

Upgrading the kitchen that powers shared meals and food programs to modern safety and health standards.

Remaining allocations — including program expansion and long-term sustainability — are being finalized with facility assessments and project bids. Updated figures will be published here as they are confirmed.

All figures are planning estimates, not final commitments. No funds will be designated until the board approves the final allocation plan.
